Call the mental health number on the back of your insurance card.
Explain that you’re interested in outpatient mental health counseling and ask if you will owe a copay, coinsurance or if you have to pay a deductible before they will cover the service.
Common billing codes we use are 90791, 90837, 90834, and 90832 if your insurance asks for this information.

No. You may seek sessions with or without a formal diagnosis. We will work together to determine if there is a fitting diagnosis throughout our sessions together. Transparency and collaboration are important to us and your self-diagnosis and self-curiosity is valued and valid.

You may bring any past documents from evaluations, such as IEP’s, treatment plans, and psychological evaluations. If you have taken any online self-assessments you may bring those results as well.
You may also consider bringing something special and important to you, something that you believe is valuable to share with your therapist. Whether it’s a stuffy, a fidget, or a comfort item, we value what you value and want to get to know you!

This is a tricky question! If you are interested and curious in the process of outpatient therapy, open to exploring yourself and your needs, and are interested in building insight and working toward meaningful growth then you may be ready!

Am I willing to give therapy sessions a chance?
Do I have any questions for my clinician to determine if she is the right fit?
Do I prefer in person or telehealth sessions?
What may my goals for therapy be?
What does my loved one believe I could gain from therapy?
What do I believe I could gain from therapy?
